We wish we could have gone to visit family for Christmas,

but it was fun having our own little celebration.

Jaden & Kayla are both getting so big

Merry Christmas We love you all!

Of course the kids loved all of their presents,

but it was also fun trying to teach them about

our Savior and what Christ has done for us.

Jaden learned a ton from Sunbeam class

and liked to look at the nativity scenes

when we drove around town.

I got a kitchen off of craigslist for $10 and painted

it these cute colors for Kayla for Christmas

We went to a Christmas party at Jaden's preschool

and he was so excited to have Kayla do story time with him.

Jaden liked showing Kayla and I around his classroom

You can kind of tell in this pic, but Jaden doesn't like

wearing clothes. He is always in his undies and takes his

clothes off whenever he thinks we wont notice ;)

We went to see the Lights around town

on Christmas eve, & of course Jaden was

asleep 5 min. into the drive

We did see this one huge tree completely covered

in 20,000 lights. You can just make out the two story

house in the background that the tree towers over.

Other then that we have been hanging out and enjoying

the mild weather for our christmas in

Minnesota. Love you all.

4 years old

Jaden turned 4 and we celebrated wit a small party.

It had to be early, because everyone was

going out of town for the holidays.

I guess thats how it will be the rest of his life ;)

This year he wanted a dragon party.

It was cute, but the cake didn't turn out, so

the pic is of a smaller, simpler, less dragony cake!

This week we also had a special visit from grandma

who was traveling across the country doing a

genealogy research trip. She stayed with us for a few

days and we had a blast. Kayla loved all the attention.

Art project

I got this frame on Craigslist for $5!!!!!!! I was so excited.

It is 3 ft. x 5 ft. P.S. I didn't ruin a painting it was just a poster.

This house was not built to code! I used a stud

finder to no avail, then I methodically nailed holes

in the wall every half inch for 22 inches and found

nothing ;(

Eventually I found a stud outside my target range

by hammering in frustration at random spots in the wall

I framed a piece of fabric I got from Joann's.

It was a remnant so it was a great deal.

The whole project cost me less then $20.

It might be a little tacky to put the prices in here,

but It was such a good deal I couldn't resist ;)

STONE

It started while I was playing a game at the dinning room table with my mom, Cory, & Brock who were visiting us on their vacation. Jon had gone to bed about half an hour earlier. It was a Wednesday so he had been in a long surgery without being able to eat or drink and he was extremely tired.

Jon came out of the room bent over in pain telling me we needed to go to the emergency room, because he thought he had a kidney stone. We got in the car and rushed there.

I dropped Jon off at the Emergency entrance to check in while I parked the car.

It only took a few minutes to park but when I got inside I couldn’t find Jon. He had been taken straight back triage for a possible kidney stone, there he threw up all over a nurse so he was taken to his room. In his room he was hooked up to an IV, but he was still in considerable pain. The nurse told us it could take up to 15 minutes for the morphine to have an effect and he told us to call if we needed anything. He left and Jon was not getting any better, but it had only been 5 minutes. I told him it could take a few more minutes to work but he insisted I call for the nurse.

Jon told the nurse the morphine wasn’t touching the pain and he was really struggling. So the nurse gave him one miligram of Dilaudid. The nurse said that this should work a lot better, and Jon could feel the difference. Jon said he felt sleepy and the nurse said it would be perfectly fine for him to fall asleep if he could.

The nurse left and Jon said he was feeling a little better so I should call my mom and tell my family that he was doing better. I got off the phone and I was talking to Jon. His eyes were droopy, and when he didn’t respond to my question I thought it was odd, but he had simply fallen asleep. I walked over to see if he was asleep. I said Jon, Jon a few times because his eyes were the tiniest bit open. He didn’t respond so I watched him for a minute or so at his side. Then I noticed his lips were slightly bluish and I thought that couldn’t be right so I looked at the monitor and there was a red flashing light. There was no noise so I didn’t know what it meant. I said his name Jon, a lot louder, almost yelling a few times and he didn’t respond. I started to panic, but his arm started to rise and I thought he was gesturing to me, but suddenly his arm fell toward his chest and he started having seizure like shakes.

I yelled for help and no one came so I ran and pulled back the curtain to our room and screamed form someone to come help me. A nurse ran and checked on Jon, she yelled for a doctor and suddenly our tiny room flooded with eight or so people. They couldn’t get him to respond and I was freaking out sobbing so they yelled at me to get out of the room. A nurse escorted me out, but it was just an alcove type room so I was standing right outside and the curtain was open. They brought in a bunch of carts with things on them and were giving Jon a “sternal rub” and they got him to wake up. Everything was over in a minute but it seemed like forever.

When it was over they explained that Jon had gone apnic and had an adverse reaction to the Dilaudid. Later Jon explained that sometimes the nurses turn off the sound to the alarm because it beeps every time the little monitor hooked on your finger falls of and it is annoying.

I calmed down a little but even in his doped up state Jon could see I was up set and crying. He kept giving me adamant thumbs up and he was being so goofy it was mildly humorous. The doctor assured me they were monitoring him and he was safe. I was still nervous and didn’t take my eyes off of him.

They did a scan on Jon and confirmed the kidney stone. Jon was pain free and breathing so we were sent home with a couple prescriptions.

It was all over within a few hours, but it seemed very long and it was a rough experience. Jon jokes that I really blew it calling those nurses and I would have been set for life if the hospital accidentally killed him. I guess we got a good story out of it, and in the end I am thankful for everything modern medicine can do for us, and especially my FAMILY. We are so blessed everyone is healthy, & happy.

The weather was wonderful

so we had her party at the park.

months. She is still a little wobbly, but its so

It's a rare thing around here.

I've been watching a lot of cake boss,

and this is my first foray into fondant.

It wasn't very smooth, but it still looked

ok with all of the decorative icing.

PS Jon doesn't like cake that much so

this is actually rice crispy treats.

She can't walk, but she can climb.

She has made it to the top of the

slide a few times now. Then she

lets go and slides down on her

tummy backwards. She loves it.

She'll stand by herself until

she notices she's doing it ;)

We're back. A large portion of my

trip home seemed like a disaster. Jaden

turned into someone else and threw

tantrums everywhere we went, plus I had a bout

of possible food poisoning, but I would

do it again! I love going home so much. Jaden

is still such a great kid and my family took

care of me when I was sick. I already miss Idaho

but here are a few snip-its of what we did.

We got to visit my dad out

at the Airport Fire station

We got to hang out with the 'King

cousins' at Grandmas House. It is

so much easier just to take their

clothes off at meal time!!!!!

This is the simplist game,

but I loved it growing up.

Its still at my grandparent's

house and now Jaden & Payton

love it too.

They tried so hard ;)

she is such a wonderful baby!

I really hit the Jackpot.

I took far fewer pictures than

We took a quick trip up to Deluth.

It was Kayla's first long car ride and she

did great (2 1/2 hours)

Canterbury Falls. It was so pretty!

At the end of our trip we took a train ride.

Jaden really loved it, but he also got pretty tired.

Antiquing

the piece with a teal paint and black

stain for the "antiqued" look.

I absolutely love the

hardware that came with the piece.

out. It is going in our new apartment:)

In general Kayla is such a blessing.

She is a much easier baby than Jaden was ;)

Kayla was blessed last Sunday and we

were able to have both grandmas fly out

to MN for the event. We all had fun and

An Event

Playing tennis may not seem like a BIG EVENT

but it is a huge under taking with these two.

I had to plan a few hours in advance for

Kaylas feeding. We had to have a dvd player

with Chair , table, snacks, and sippy for Jaden.

Jaden needed his tennis raquet, sports ware,

and of course Sunscreen. We had to pack extra

undies (just in case) and have him go potty

right before we left. (That didnt stop him from

needing to go 2 more times in an hour and a half)

It was quite an undertaking, but worth it.

My mom and I got some good practice

in and Jaden also got a few hits.

It was quite the EVENT!

Book Shelf

We went to Home Depot and got the wood.

But the mouse in real life is pretty scary.

We took Jaden and his friend Paul to the

Mall of America for a kids event. There was coloring,

story time, free cookies, and pictures with the mouse.

It would have been awesome if Jaden and

Paul weren't terrified of the mouse.

It is pretty scary looking though ;)

When we lived in Pittsburgh we had a bunch of friends with amazing camera's and cheap rates. I haven't found anyone like that since we moved to Minnesota, so I thought I'd try a few myself before we pay way too much. It is a lot harder then it looks. First of all my camera isn't that great, and I have really shaky hands :) I took a ton of photos and about 10 of 100 turned out OK. Oh well some of them are pretty cute!

Kayla Was Born on May 5th

She weighed 6lbs 13 oz & was 20 in.

Jaden is such a cute big brother

Kayla has way more hair than I expected

and I love combing it after her sponge

baths. It has such cute little curls.

Everyone is doing well and were glad

dad has the week off to help at home.

Easter Egg Hunt

Jaden had a good time looking for eggs.

He was in the younger group where

they were pretty easy to find :)

He loves playing with his friend Paul,

even if he isn't always nice to him.

It was a little chilly, but we

had a great time at a wonderful park.

As I said we were able to go home for

Vacation a few weeks ago in March.

We were lucky enough to spend a little

more time with Jon's dad, Jack, before

he passed away. Jack died a week

after we came back to Minnesota.

Jon was able to attend the funeral, but

being 35 weeks pregnant, Jaden and I

stayed home. Jon said the service was

very nice, with some great talks given

by his sisters.

The last year and a half were rough,

but also testimony strengthening.

We love Grandpa Jack and will miss

him very much. This is my favorite

picture of Jaden and Jack, taken on

one of the family reunions in Yellowstone.

Idaho

We all had a great trip home to Idaho.

Jaden is getting so old and its crazy all

of the new things he does every day.

It was warm enough in Idaho

to spend a couple of days at the park

We were able to spend time

with friends and family. Here we

are with my cousin Kimberly, her

hubby Zach, and Brenna Miller.

I just love Emerson's face in this one :)

Jaden had so much fun with Payton.

Payton was a good sport and would

do pretty much what ever Jaden wanted :)

Welcome Home

Jeff came Home from Argentina

Jaden and I were able to be there at

the Airport when he got back to the

states. Jon came a week later.

Since we had all the boys together

we tried to get a few good pics.

Jaden was to afraid to sit in the tree

with his cousins.

Uncle Jeff requested Swedish Fish, and

Krispy Kreame donuts be brought to

the airport. Jaden & Emerson were

happy to sample some of Jeff's treats

before he arrived.

NEBRASKA

We were able to drive to Nebraska this past weekend to visit our friends the Reid's.

We were able to take the kids to the zoo.

Dillon was nice enough to let Jaden hold

We also got a babysitter and the adults were

able to have a night on the town. We

miss the good old days in Pittsburgh where

we would do something every weekend :(

This winter I have been growing bigger and

I am not a fan of winter, or being pregnant. Put

the two together and I am not doing so well. I

am Round, White, and still sick.

Sew Bored

I have been pretty bored. I don't feel like doing much these days, but I borrowed a sewing machine from my friend holly and I felt motivated to get something done. Our apartment has zero color and we aren't allowed to paint, so I whipped up some pillow covers. Of course they didn't turn our like I planned, but it will work for now.

These are the baby's initials.

We are down to two names

Kayla or Kenya

Jon's vote is for Kayla and is already

calling her that. I like Kenya, but Jon

is afraid she will get teased with such

an odd name.

The J stands for -Jacklyn

which are Jon's parents names Jack & Lyn.

Either way, I have the initials done.

They are covered in the cute fabric that

inspired my nursery colors.

So I've really been going all out.

I haven't spent much, but a lot of time

Jaden was sick yesterday with a fever, and

this morning I woke up because I pee

like 50 times every night. When I went

to the restroom I heard a little voice crying

for daddy. It was barely audible. So I went

into Jaden's room at 2:30 am he was

gasping for breath and really

panicking. It freaked me out!

We were able to calm him down a little,

enough to give him a sippy. When I handed

it to him he struggled with the words,

but clearly said "Thank you so much"

It was so cute, and sad at the same time.

I went to the pharmacy right away

and filled a prescription for steroids,

which was worthless. The medicine smelled

and tasted so gross Jaden threw it up 3 times

just because of his gag reflex. We mixed it

with: chocolate milk, oatmeal, and a ton

of sugar to no avail.

We have just been hanging out this morning.

His breathing is labored, but he is in good

spirits, so I decided to tape his voice.

He is just so cute.

So the doctor prescribed me medicine for

Jaden because she thought he might have

Croop, but he isn't coughing at all. Does that

sound weird to anyone else.

DECORATING

I have been getting more and more excited

about having a girl. The best thing so far has

been decorating her room. Here is a before

I bought this old frame from an antique store.

It is just plastic painted like wood.

So who knows if its really an antique. :)

Jaden does this chicken wing dance whenever he hears music.

His little arm just always goes to that position. It is hilarious.

We are so excited for Thanksgiving.

Jon's family is coming to Minnesota for the holiday and we cant wait. As you can see Jaden loves cooking and asks to do it frequently. It will be so fun to have grandma and grandpa here and we are especially excited for all of the cooking. The Misner's (myself excluded) are great cooks and do tons of stuff from scratch, including their famous pies. We are really looking forward to it.

We went to an awesome little city called Stillwater. We had dinner at a waterfront restaurant outside and walked along the river. There was also an awesome Teddy Bear Park we hung out at for Jaden. It was a fun little day trip.

GARAGE SALE

I don't know what it is about garage sales, but I have been to 2 or 3 a day for the last week. Maybe its that I haven't made any friends yet and I have a lot of time on my hands. There is just something about shopping outside and finding a great bargain that sucks me in time and time again. Most of the ones I've gone to have been flops, but today I hit the mother load.

I got these two wicker chairs for $5.

NOT five dollars a piece, but a TOTAL of $5

This lamp with the awesome base was $10

This matching picture set was $10 total.

I am going to take out the pictures and

just use the frames. They are huge.

Compare them to the couch they are

leaning against.

Again I am just going to use the frame.

I might spray paint it black or

something very cool and chic ; )

But the best find was this gigantic mirror. It goes way above the back of the couch. It cost me $10. Anyone who has paid for a mirror of that size, or frames for that matter, knows what an amazing deal that is. I was so happy, and I had to give myself a pat on the back for being so thrifty. Everything for a TOTAL of $45. Then I need to slap myself and quit going to these sales, because it does add up. But after everything, I really, really, love GARAGE SALES.

Camping 2009

(under Jon's supervision) We didn't have any other clothes and we had just gotten there, so I am afraid to say we let him play around like that for a while. Jaden was pleased as punch and we all had a good time.

Next up on our kid free trip was Yellowstone. We saw old faithful, tons of wildlife, etc. It was a senic drive that took longer than expected and made us late, but it was a blast.

After we got to Minnesota we sent Jaden on a plane to Idaho with Grandma and Grandpa Misner. That left us a few days to drive across country and enjoy some kid free time for Jon and I. Naturally the first place we stopped was the Corn Palace. Who hasnt dreamed their whole life of going there? No it really was cool, all of the building was covered in corn art.

Then we hit up Mount Rushmore.

As most of you know The Misner's are moving to Minnesota. One awesome tool for people to pare down on their stuff before they load up is CRAIGSLIST. I love this tool! We have sold so many things. The point to the story is that I was trying to take pictures of the area rug Jaden is standing on so that we could sell it. As soon as Jaden heard me turn on the camera he ran over to me, looked at the camera, and said Cheese. He is such a ham, and he loves the spotlight.

Good Friends

We had an awesome weekend with our friends from Cleveland and Cali. Brett and Eryn live just a few hours away and drove over. Ben flew in from California and Stayed with us for a little over a week doing and externship at Pitt. We had tons of fun and of course the boys talked about their glory days at ISU where they "ruled the school". We went bowling at a first class establishment that included outdated themed decor, smoke filled rooms, and computer graphics from the 80's. It was great. There is always good food because we go out to eat a bunch when people are in town. We also took a trip to Mount Washington. We got a 'nearly flat tire' on the way and had to get air and go back and switch cars. Our ghetto taurus made it, but just a few days later it started fuming like it did the last time it broke down.

Well Thanks to our friends for coming to Pittsburgh to hang out! (We wish Alex could have come :) Jaden had a wonderful time and he says he misses you guys. Hopefully we will see you guys this summer.

Big Boy

This is a picture of Jaden at the Hotel in Minneapolis. He loves the water. As usual he is good at making friends, because he is so stinking cute. One little girl just loved him and played with him the whole time we were at the pool. In talking to her I said something about Baby Jaden. She got this funny look on her face and asked. "Is he a baby" in a tone meaning she already knew the answer. I guess he really isn't a baby :( He is my little boy. I cant believe how fast he's growing up.

Jaden picks up some of the most random things, like saying the word purple. Here are a few snip-its of what he knows. Duck, Cow, and Lion noises. The words: purple, mom, dad, & boom boom. Facial Features: nose, ears, hair, mouth. He is learning so much and surprises me every day :) Jaden loves playing with his toys, especially trucks and cars. Jaden's best friend is his dad, he lights up when Jon comes home from work, and Jon can always make him laugh. They are best buds.

Knee Update :)

Everything went really well with my surgery, as you can tell by my picture :) I know the picture is gross, but I made it black and white so it isn't as harsh. I thought it was pretty funny when they wrote the word YES on my leg. I guess they really do have trouble with doing surgery on the wrong limb. Super scary, but comical all the same. Right now my mom is here helping with Jaden. He is having a blast. I hope to be back to normal by 4 weeks. Other then that, not much going on here. I am watching way to much HGTV and sitting on the couch, but what else can I do? Any way Happy Valentines day!

I know these pictures are a few months old, but they are awesome. Jon and I ran a 5 K race a while ago, and Jaden was pushed through it. Here is a picture of Thomas and Jaden in strollers anticipating the Lupus Loop. We ran with our friends the Aldous's and 1/2 of the Braithwaite clan. On top of course we have the picture of Jaden with Big Ben from the Steelers. You can even see Heinz Stadium in the background. Hopefully we will be cheering them on for the Super bowl. One Year Old

Jaden is one year old. The year really flew by. For his birthday we went to lunch at the Mandarin House with: Brock, Cory, Payton, my Dad, and Grandma and Grandpa Farnsworth. We had sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. We stuck a candle in the fried rice for Jaden. It was adorable. Then Jaden's cousins, Warren and Emerson, stopped by and we had some cake before they had to drive back to Utah.

Tthat night there was a party at my moms house. We did presents and cake. We built ginger bread houses and played Dr. Mario. I thought it was a blast and the party continued long after the birthday boy had to go to bed.

P.S. Happy Anniversary to Chan & Jill. It is on Jaden's Birthday :)

Knee Update

Here are my cousins kids Annie and Brandon. They hung out with us a lot and here they are with ice packs on their injured knees, just like mine. The doctor said I cant have surgery for 2 months. They have to wait for all of the fractures to heal and the bone bruises to go away before they can open me up. So I will be having the surgery back in Pittsburgh and then recovery. My knee should be back to normal in about 4 months. This is really going to kill my last volleyball season at Pitt inter-murals :(

Boise Christmas Parade

We hit up the Boise Christmas Parade and had fun with some of our friends from Pittsburgh. The DeVries were in town and it was fun to hang out with them for a little bit. Braiden is so big I seriously cant believe it. My nephew Warren and Brother in Law Nick also came. It was fun, but a little chilly. It started to drizzle, so we left a little early, but not before they handed out a beanie baby to every single kid. Totally random, but cool.

Hang'n with Cousins

On the Farnsworth side there are 4 great grandchildren. Here are all four boys playing at my cousin Stephanie's house in Idaho Falls. Payton, Brennan, Jaden, and Braiden had a blast. They loved the Piano and had a ton of fun in the newly finished basement. It is huge, and open and had tons of toys for the boys. Earlier that week the boys took a train ride to the North Pole together. They are just so cute.

Knee

I am in Idaho for the Holiday season and I was so excited to get here. My family is so fun and I was extremely anxious to play some volley ball. It is one of my favorite things. Cory and I were able to play last Wednesday night with Maja and some of her friends. It was awesome and we had a blast. The next night we went to play with some old friends. They still play every Thursday night and it is really great. We went and I was having fun and I went up to hit. On the way down my knee went all skiddywompus. The lower half of my leg went one way and the upper half went the other :( It hurt so bad and we ended up in the emergency room. I have an immobilizer for my knee and today we saw a specialist and I had an MRI done. It is official. I have a fracture and multiple bruises to my bones. I tore completely through my ACL and partially through my meniscus. There is a possible tear in my cartilage and my knee is GINORMOUS. I will have to have knee surgery for sure, they just don't know when. My bruises need to heal and my swelling needs to go down.

We had a hard time finding a doctor that would take me and my insurance. We finally found a doctor in Blackfoot who saw me and my sister had to drive me over there. On the way home the breaks in Cory's car went out. It sounds scarier than it actually was because we were going sort of slow at the time, but it was just bad luck. My grandparents called triple A and they had to drive up and get us. They are really amazing. We made it home and that's as far as we have gotten. We are just trying to stay positive and I really appreciate all of the help everyone has given us. This is also a heads up to the people in Pittsburgh. We love you guys and will probably need a few favors when we come home. Ill try to keep updated so the 4 people who read my blog will know whats going on. :)
