Knee

I am in Idaho for the Holiday season and I was so excited to get here. My family is so fun and I was extremely anxious to play some volley ball. It is one of my favorite things. Cory and I were able to play last Wednesday night with Maja and some of her friends. It was awesome and we had a blast. The next night we went to play with some old friends. They still play every Thursday night and it is really great. We went and I was having fun and I went up to hit. On the way down my knee went all skiddywompus. The lower half of my leg went one way and the upper half went the other :( It hurt so bad and we ended up in the emergency room. I have an immobilizer for my knee and today we saw a specialist and I had an MRI done. It is official. I have a fracture and multiple bruises to my bones. I tore completely through my ACL and partially through my meniscus. There is a possible tear in my cartilage and my knee is GINORMOUS. I will have to have knee surgery for sure, they just don't know when. My bruises need to heal and my swelling needs to go down.

We had a hard time finding a doctor that would take me and my insurance. We finally found a doctor in Blackfoot who saw me and my sister had to drive me over there. On the way home the breaks in Cory's car went out. It sounds scarier than it actually was because we were going sort of slow at the time, but it was just bad luck. My grandparents called triple A and they had to drive up and get us. They are really amazing. We made it home and that's as far as we have gotten. We are just trying to stay positive and I really appreciate all of the help everyone has given us. This is also a heads up to the people in Pittsburgh. We love you guys and will probably need a few favors when we come home. Ill try to keep updated so the 4 people who read my blog will know whats going on. :)

Well, talk to Joel. He's recovering tight now from knee surgery. No weight on his knee for 6 weeks, physical therapy for months, he can't lift the kids, etc. You'll definitely need some help and probably will need your mom to come help you for a while. Joel could probably give you some info about different surgeons, dr's etc. too. Call us if you want!

Oh Brooke, I'm so sorry! I guess that's what happens when all your friends leave town and you don't play v-ball anymore, huh? That is too bad, I'm sorry! Hope you enjoy the holidays and can't wait to hear where you guys match!
By the way, adorable x-mas cards! SO cute! Hope you feel better and surgery goes ok; keep us updated on the blog!

Dang Brooke--what a story! So sorry about your knee. Honestly, whatever you need, we're here for you! In case you were wondering, Dunder Mifflin won there next match but lost in the quarters. The law school team lost in the Semi's...on technicalities of course.

That makes me so sad to hear about your knee!! I guess it is good you have all your family there to help you out. Tell Jon I said he'll have to step it up at home and take over cleaning, doing dinner, and back rubs of course.

Holy crap Brooke, I am so sorry this happened. I guess you better ahng it up. Maybe you are getting too old for the sport (oh shoot what does that make me) anyways I was wondering why you didn't make it Wednesday night. We missed you guys. I will come and visit next week since I am sure you aren't getting out and around. Are you doing surgery here or when you get back to pit?

Oh no! I just had knee surgery myself, with a similar recovery to Joel. I am walking almost normal again, but it is no fun recovering especially when it is unplanned! I know how you feel and I sure appreciated any and all help so please let me know if you need ANYTHING!!!
